Aura Reader is a free, client-side reading companion for Markdown and plain text.
It turns your writing into a focused read-aloud experience with sentence highlighting,
readable themes, keyboard controls, and local browser voices.
It also works as a clean, convenient Markdown reader when you simply want to read
without listening.
The app is built to stay lightweight and privacy-friendly: your pasted text and uploaded
documents stay on your device — Aura Reader never uploads them to its own servers.
If you import from Google Drive, the selected file is fetched directly from Google in your browser
after you grant access.
To suggest local English accent voices, Aura Reader may request a coarse country lookup from ipapi.co;
your document text is not included in that request.
Narration uses your device's built-in voices. Note that some system voices labelled
"Online", "Natural", or "Neural" may send the text being read to your operating system's
speech service to generate audio.
Aura Reader may collect anonymous, cookieless usage analytics — only interaction
metadata such as which features are used and how much of a document is played.
Your document text is never included, and the browser's "Do Not Track" setting is honored.
